History:
Here. As the wiki doesn't really give any information on Sif pre-movie, I'll extrapolate on what can be inferred from it if you'd like me to.
Personality:
Sif is a study in passion, pride, movement, tenaciousness, loyalty, and a small amount of reason.
Passion, because there is nothing she doesn't do half heartedly. For Sif, it's all or nothing - there's no middle ground. It doesn't matter what - she approaches everything with the same amount of intensity. It makes her incredibly easy to read, for she never bothers to hide what she's feeling or doing at any one moment. And that itself doesn't bother her, for she considers that she has nothing to hide from anymore. She's not afraid to voice her opinions on anything and can always be counted to be honest with others.
Pride, because she's earned her place in the world. After fighting against discrimination and the perception of all others around her and what she can and cannot achieve as a woman, Sif knows that she's earned her position as one of the best warriors in her world. While she cares little for the trappings of glory and honor, she still values her achievements and will stick up for herself when someone else tries to steal it away from her. Beyond her personal pride of her hard earned accomplishments, there's the pride of being an Asgardian, of her people and her world.
Movement, because Sif needs to always find herself in motion whether it's physical or environmental. Stagnation is not a choice for her - she is an individual ruled by passion and pride and therefore staying still has no appeal. If there is something to be done, she will attempt to do it. If something needs to be said, she will say it.
Tenaciousness, because once she's put her mind towards something, very little will shake her from that path. Telling her that she's not able to do something will only make her more intent on finding a way to achieve it. Nothing in her life has ever come to her without her having to fight for it - throwing the opinions of others to the wayside as she made her own way. One could go so far to say she's stubborn, but unlike others, she doesn't blindly force her way through unless pushed too far. Instead she constantly works at it, a steady constant force until it gives.
Loyalty, because most of her adult life is sworn to being such. As a shield-maiden of Asgard she has sworn herself to the protection of Asgard and of all the realms, and values the loyalty she's earned from her friends and her companions. But in the same vein, she expects it to be returned to her. Betrayal is something she can comprehend but never understand - near unforgivable. It involves turning on family, on friends, and she is loathe to even consider that as an option. What follows is that her loyalty and trust is something hard to earn; she's had centuries to come to trust her friends on and off the battlefield - they cannot be replaced that easily. But once someone has her trust they have a friend who will stick with them no matter what, unless they betray anyone or something.
Reason, though she pales in comparison to someone like Loki. But Sif is more than capable of recognizing when a plan is a bad one, and even though she may go through with it in the end it's not blindly walking in thinking everything would go smoothly. She's knows there's a line that can be crossed and aims to keep herself and others from crossing over that line. Rash actions only lead to bad decisions - something she's not opposed to, but she'd better be capable of getting herself out of them.
All in all, while Sif is at times fierce and uncompromising, she's not a complete bastion of unfriendliness. Passionate in all that she does, she is a woman of action and general good humor - unafraid to tease or make jests at those she holds dear. But she is a warrior at heart, and that is something that will never change.
Fears:
Most of Sif's fears tie into her struggles with becoming a female warrior in a patriarchal society. That one day, some day, someone will decide that she isn't capable of fighting and take her blade and armor away and forbid her from ever returning to the battlefield. What follows is being forced into a woman's traditional role as a wife, house keeper, and mother. It's something that Sif can never imagine herself doing, and fears being shoved into that role as well.
Another of her fears is that of being forced to remain inactive. For someone who is constantly moving, who believes in action, she cannot imagine living a life where she can't - be it by injury or a change in station. It would make her useless, to others and to herself, if something prevented her from fighting back. In the same vein, she fears being weak or helpless - or even perceived as such by others. Or worse, actually becoming so. Sif lives her life by the blade as a warrior - anything else is unacceptable.
Weaknesses:
Oddly enough, her hair. It's been through a lot in her life - once golden until Loki cut it all off out of jealousy and spite, and now black. While Sif would hardly call herself vain, her hair is a point of contention as all of Asgard used to consider it the finest hair of all the realms. While Sif doesn't dwell or mourn its loss, the reason for it being a weakness is because it reminds her of a time where she had no control over what happened to her - black hair wasn't her choice to make. She's also generally a bit touchy and overprotective of her hair in general - should something happen to it, it'll undermined her for a fair time before she's able to come back.
While her initial response towards finding herself in a position where she feels useless would be to fight back, the longer she found herself the more wild and desperate she'd become in trying to break it. There's only so much she could take before wanting to completely snap. Anger, giving way to panic and fury that mask a near hysteria. She's come too far to fall and will do her best to claw her way out again, no matter the cost. In all honesty, anger and a refusal to give up would be her default reaction to the majority of her fears being realized. And that too, can be a weakness, for while in cold fury she's dangerous, hot anger leads her to making mistakes and desperate choices without fully thinking them through.
But constant struggling met with constant defeat in trying to change whatever situation she's been forced into can, and will, wear down Sif to a point where she no longer actively fights back but withdraws within herself. Bitter and angry, and further disgusted with the fact that she cannot do anything else but accept the situation that's been forced upon her.
There's a tipping point, however, between struggling and unwilling acceptance - an emotional extreme that has Sif at her most volatile. Yelling, screaming, even violence all in defiance of the situation she fears most. It's here that, if the situation is right and she's been stretched to the max, even death seems like a better alternative than living forever in a life she detests.
Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
Sif is an Asgardian. Biologically she is stronger, faster, and more durable than your average human - superhuman, in all actuality. With an increased healing rate and higher metabolism she's already a powerhouse. Coupled with centuries upon centuries of military training, she's a force to be reckoned with.
She's also skilled in all manner of cold weaponry, though her preference is using the double bladed glaive she's had for centuries.
Sensitivity/Magical Ability:
None of note, though she probably has some ability to sense the presence of something magical, but not determine anything other than 'it exists somewhere'.
Supply List:
+ Shield that fits on back
+ Sword that splits and forms a double ended glaive
+ Armor; image here
+ One throwing knife
Due to the nature of Asgard and the people who dwell in it, it's not unlikely to consider that the metals making up her weapons and armor are stronger than normal Earth metals - extremely durable and exceedingly hard to even dent.
